As you undoubtedly know, Saturday and Sunday November 8th and 9th is the most exciting weekend for the Arts that Roanoke has seen in quite some time. Not only will the new Taubman Museum of Art be opening, the Second Annual Roanoke Arts Festival will also be taking place at various venues throughout the valley. For more information on the Roanoke Arts Festival see their web page at
www.roanokeartsfest.org. What you may not have known is that one exciting part of the Roanoke Arts Festival will be taking place right here in Old Southwest. The acclaimed James W. Hyams Collection will be open to the public in Mr. Hyams’ Old Southwest home on the 8th and 9th of November. Works from Mr. Hyams’ collection of contemporary prints have been on display in more than eight museums and include some of the most successful artists of the twentieth century. This is an outstanding opportunity to be given a personal tour by Mr. Hyams of some fantastic art and also to see a beautifully completed renovation of a classic Old Southwest home. A $10 arts festival donation is suggested. Call 853-5837 for more information (times/location) regarding the tour.
