Default Friends of Mountain View

Join us for cake and ice cream from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. this
Saturday Sept. 29th at Mountain View and celebrate the birthday of its originalowner, Junius B. Fishburn, and the 100th anniversary of the mansion.

Enjoy a special tour of the home, cast your vote for items to be
included in our 2007 time capsule and learn more about the history
and upcoming restoration of the mansion at this free birthday party.

Beginning with a much needed, city-sponsored roof repair in the
coming months, the restoration effort will later include many
external and internal renovations. A grassroots effort, Friends of
Mountain View, is now forming to support the preservation of this
historic landmark.

Other events planned for the rest of 2007 include:
100 Holidays at Mountain View. Be one of the first in town to see the
mansion decorated for the holidays. Enjoy a candlelight tour, hot
cocoa and cookies, and a special storytime visit with St. Nicholas
himself. Cost is $5, with proceeds going to the restoration of
Mountain View. 6-8 p.m., Friday, Nov. 30.

New Year's Eve Gala. A black tie soiree hosted by Friends of Mountain
View, this event celebrates the turn of the year and turn of a
century of the Fishburn Mansion. Enjoy gourmet food, two drink
tickets, cash bar and a champagne toast as well as great jazz to
dance the night away and a silent auction of fabulous Mountain View
art, travel and other items, souvenirs and much more. Valet parking.
All proceeds benefit the restoration effort. $100/couple,
$50/individuals. 8:30 p.m.-1 a.m., Monday, Dec. 31.

Mountain View is located at 714 13th St., SW and is open daily to the
public and for recreation programs. It is also available for rental
by calling 853-2236.

For more information, contact:
Melida McKee, Recreation Coordinator - 853-1269

Isn't the Holiday Tour at Mountain View the same night as the owners and sponsers night for the OSW Parlor Tour? Shame, I wish we had thought to ask them to do it on Saturday and Sunday along with the OSW Tour. That would have been a nice extra for only $5 for folks doing our tour.

Sorry, had I known that they were going to have a tour on Nov. 30th I would have inquired with them about doing it on the same day as our parlor tour, but I didn't know they were doing their's until today- That would have been a good advertising/marketing tool-
