30th Annual Parlor Tour

Historic Old Southwest will celebrate its 30th Annual Holiday Parlor Tour in 2009. For 30 years, this neighborhood has shown Virginia its historic beauty and what the future holds for the state's largest nationally recognized residential historic district. 

This year's tour will be our largest and most celebrated to date with several dwellings beautifully appointed for the holidays dating from the height of the Victorian era, the early 20th century. 

In addition to the properties on tour, the main level of the Rose Hill Bed and Breakfast. located on Washington Avenue will also feature this year's silent auction. This year's auction is the largest to date with a variety of incredible packages for bid, including home improvement resources, beauty and pampering gifts, and much more!

As in year's past, guests on the tour will receive a souvenir tour brochure and guide with information about each of these majestic homes. Please stay tuned to our website for updates on the tour, as well as opportunities for home owners, volunteers, and sponsors.

Tickets can be obtained at the entrance to Highland Park (Coner of 5th Street SW and Washington Avenue SW) on the days of the tour. [Map to the Parlor Tour ticket location].

Take a trip to the "Star City" and launch your holiday traditions in the spirit of Old Southwest! Admission Fee is $15.00 per person. Due to the intimate nature of the parlor tour, we ask that parents give careful consideration regarding bringing children under the age of 16.

Event is FREE, but tickets are required!

Come and celebrate 30 years of the parlor tour by attending a Gala Celebration taking place on Friday December 4, 2009
(7pm-11pm) at the historic Mountain View Recreation Center- (714 13th Street SW)
 
The event itself is FREE- The food provided by The Isaacs Restaurant is also FREE-  You MUST CALL the Alexander/Gish House in order to reserve your tickets. Leave your name and number and a volunteer will call you back about obtaining your tickets 540-343-8794.
 
We will be charging for beverages as a way to raise additional funds for the neighborhood- Beer and Wine provided by Wine Gourmet- Coffee provided by Star City Coffee along with our very own Parlor Tour and Old Southwest blends of coffee- Shangri La Tea will be sold as well-
 
We'll have piano music provided by resident Nendin Stillman followed by a mini-auction of some wonderful gifts and items! Then from 9pm-11pm we'll have a dee jay for dancing so don't forget your dancing shoes-  Business attire requested.

Parlor tour tickets will be on sale - beat the lines on Saturday and Sunday! $15 each.
